Siegel High School Rugby Football Club 2009-2010 Match Results
Siegel Stars at Oakland Jamboree, Saturday Dec 12, 2009
Playing Some 15s
Final Scores: 10 - 20 and 10 - 25
As the Siegel Men's Rugby team warmed up on Saturday, the numbers were staggering. With almost 45 in uniform, the Stars looked ready for action. After playing 7's at Father Ryan the previous weekend, the Siegel boys were ready for some 15's action. From the opening kickoffs the Siegel boys played with determination. Obviously continuity was bad, due to the fact that most of the players were unaccustomed to playing together, but several times throughout the day the Stars showed glimpses of what is to come. Several players stood out for the Siegel Boys. The front row, comprised of John McKinney, Blake Warrick and Matt Owens played inspired. "This front row is one of the best I have seen." remarked Coach D. "They can scrum and run." he added. Mckinney posted a try for his efforts.
Coaches were also in high praise of fullback, K.J. "Kimbo" Ford. Ford has moved from the front row to fullback, where his performance was near flawless. Newbies, Pete Rios, Phillip Reed, Ryan Roper and Jake Barrett were also impressive on the day. Siegel Rugby fans also saw the return of scrumhalf, Kyle Faulkner. Faulkner sat out last year, but has returned for his Senior season with a point to prove. Faulkner played almost every minute of the two matches on Saturday. "He's a GAMER!" exclaimed second year coach, Tim Tidwell. "When the whistle blows, he just gets it done.", he added. The rest of the Siegel coaching staff echoed that sentiment. Siegel's hopes are high as they head into the 2010 season. When asked how far they will go this season, "ALL THE WAY" was the only response. S.M. Hornbuckle (Rugby Free Press)
Lady Stars at Oakland Jamboree, Saturday Dec 12, 2009
Ladies Dominate
Final Scores: 45 - 7 and 25 - 5
Saturday turned out to be another GREAT day of Rugby for the Lady Stars!!! Lead by their Fly-Half, Anna Morgan Demonbreun, who scored 7 times between her two matches on Saturday.....Siegel was unstoppable! Oakland and Riverdale did manage to get one try each (Oakland made their extra point), but Siegel took it to them ALL DAY with final scores of 45-7 and 25-5. Siegel ruled the pitch! "Kalen Foster did an awesome job at scrum-half. This is her first year at that position and she really made it look easy", stated Coach G. Christina Wilbert moved to outside center, with Taylor Godwin at #12 and they rocked it O-U-T!!! Tackling, running and scoring throughout the matches. "I was especially proud of Christa Martin", Coach G. said. "I played her all over the field. She never missed a beat. Same great effort as always and made a diving score in the second match". Newbies Julia Sculley and Sarah Hudson both touched one down in the try zone. Returning players Amy Bowling and Bethany Camarillo REALLY helped the Lady Stars with their awesome ability to tackle! "Several times, had one of these ladies not been in position, there would have been a try for the other team", stated Coach G. Nice job ladies! "My pack players.....all of them... are showing GREAT effort and improvement", said Coach G. "We look more like a team this year than ever before. I am so proud of each and every one of my girls....well done ladies"!! Regular season play will begin in Febuary.

Siegel Middle Cavalier Scrimmage Matches, Sunday Dec 6, 2009
Learning the Game
Final Score: 50 - 10
The newly formed Siegel Middle School Cavalier ruggers had their first test match at Tower park in Brentwood on Sunday. There were many questions about how they would perform, but it did not take long to get some real answers. From the opening kickoff the Cavalier ruggers were totally in charge. Ay the 2 min mark flyhalf, Judd Demonbreun, received a pass from Desmond Donelson and raced 60 meters to paydirt. Sparked by that early score, inside center, O.C. Parker, would not be denied as he out ran all defenders on his way to to the try zone. "Wow, what a great first outing", remarked Coach D. "I guess these guys can play!", he added.
Along with Demonbreun and Parker, fullback Elijah Saulsberry also put the ball down for five points. The pack dominated play with Ben Callahan bulling his way in for another Cavalier score. The match opened up a bit as the Siegel boys pulled away. Giving up only two scores on the day, as the final whistle blew the Cavs had there first win of the young season, 50-10.

Lady Stars St. Nick's Sevens Jamboree
A new start
The first match of the day was hectic! After having to jump out of the car, throw on jerseys and scrum-caps and get on the field....the Lady Stars had a slow start against the Lady Brumbies. Once everyone calmed down and relaxed, the next two matches went MUCH differently. Anna Morgan Demonbreun set the pace early against Cheatam Co. with two tries. The Lady Stars could not be stopped as Kacy Rinus crushed a Cheatam player...got up....took her ball and scored! Taylor Godwin was not far behind with a try of her own. Newbies, Kelsey Ward and Julia Sculley were tenacious on the field! Both had their first try and played hard on defense....watch out for those two!! Christiana Wilbert found her groove in the second match and took one in from 50meters...what a run! Two returning players for the Stars made their mark on Saturday. Morgan Thomas and Christa Martin BOTH scored their first try....way to go ladies!! All in all a fun day of Rugby. Next up, Oakland High School Jamboree.
